Shuai Jiao is one of the oldest sports in China. Ancient called Jiao Li （角力）, Xiang Pu （相扑）, and Zheng Jiao (争跤）.  As early as 4000 years ago, during the period of  the Yellow Emperor (Huang Di 黃帝), Shuai Jiao existed already.

According to the "Book of Rites - yue ling (礼记月令)", Zhou Dynasty (late 10th / 9th century BC - 256 BC), The wrestling, archery,  and carriage driving are listed as a military training program.
